In this video, I am going to explain the three levels of awareness: unconscious, preconscious,
and conscious, and how each level shapes trauma responses, emotional development, and everyday behavior.
While this framework originates from Freud’s topographic model, modern neuroscience,
attachment theory, and trauma research expand our understanding of how early emotional experiences become
embedded, defended against, and later expressed through recognizable patterns that affect
relationships and self concept. The unconscious is the deepest layer of awareness.
Freud described it as the place where experiences, emotions, and internal meanings
