The ball drop in Times Square weighs nearly twelve thousand pounds and is covered with over two thousand
crystals. But here's what most people don't know. The tradition started
in nineteen oh seven because they banned fireworks. New York needed a safer way to celebrate,
so they created this massive illuminated ball. Today, over a million people
crowd the streets to watch those final sixty seconds. The real trick though is arriving by noon
and not leaving your spot for twelve hours straight. No bathrooms, no food runs,
just pure commitment to witness ten seconds of descending sparkle. really not worth it if you ask me.
People that do this are also know to becomplete dumb asses
