Toronto Transforms Housing with Zero Cost

Toronto just replaced 120 old, run-down apartments with nearly 700 brand-new homes,

and it cost the city zero dollars. This happened in Leslieville, where the Don Summerville

community housing site was completely transformed. Now, there are three

new buildings with everything from rent-geared-to-income and affordable units to market rentals

and condos, all in one place. It's a true mixed-income community, with new retail

shops and public spaces built right in. This project created six times more homes

on the same piece of land, showing a new way to build housing for everyone in

the city.
