Trapped Breath

Being trapped in the closet is a slow suffocation. You used to be the air,

the walls, the whole room, but now you’re just the closet, and it's so small

you can't breathe. You have to consciously think about every single breath, just to make it

through the day. Every word you didn't say, every single yesterday, just makes the space

smaller. That closet has no air, and it's dying to be broken open.

It’s cruel, but making it through means you can finally breathe again without even thinking about

it. You just do it.
