Trenches of Humanity in WWI

In the trenches of WWI, the ground was strewn with bodies that turned black in

less than 24 hours. Soldiers lived in muddy dugouts they called 'death-traps,' facing machine guns

and terrifying new poison gas attacks. At sea, teenage sailors cried from fear

while on lookout, frozen to their posts. Amidst the carnage, a brief Christmas
