Her safety harness came loose in midair—and the real terror hit seconds later. The buckle popped

open, the strap whipped free, and her back lifted off the seat.

Wind blasted her face as the roller coaster climbed nearly 200 feet higher.

There was no way to stop it. No way to grab on. She screamed, “My seatbelt’s open!”

As the ride tipped forward, a man in the seat ahead turned around, saw the gap,

and reacted instantly. With one hand, he grabbed the edge of her seat; with the other,

he locked onto her arm. “I’ve got you—don’t let go!” he shouted as the coaster dropped.

Her feet lifted. Her body slammed against the lap bar. But his grip never
