In 1971, Idi Amin seized power in Uganda, promising a new era of stability
and prosperity. Yet, these promises soon dissolved into a brutal reality of
state terror and fear. Political opponents and dissenting voices began to vanish,
swallowed by the night. Ethnic purges commenced, targeting entire communities accused without trial.
The knock on the door at night became a chilling omen of despair.
Prisons transformed into slaughterhouses, where countless lives were brutally extinguished. Rivers became silent
graves, carrying away the regime's victims. A suffocating silence fell over Uganda,
enforced by pervasive fear. An estimated 300,000 to 500,000 Ugandans perished during this
