ICE stands for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and they are way more powerful than most people realize.
This federal agency was created in 2003 under the Department of Homeland Security and their primary
job is to enforce federal immigration laws inside the United States. But here's what
you need to understand about what they actually do versus what they can do. What ICE does on
a daily basis is investigate and arrest people who are in the country without proper documentation.
They also handle deportations and removals. They run detention facilities where
people await immigration hearings. They investigate human trafficking, smuggling operations,
and worksite enforcement. Basically they're the interior enforcement arm of immigration policy.
