The name on your land deed is totally different depending on which Indian state you're in.
In Haryana, it's a "Jamabandi." In Jharkhand, it's a "Khatiyan," and in Goa,
you're looking for "Form I & XIV." These are all just different names for the Record of
Rights—your ultimate proof of land ownership. This single document lists everything: the owner's name,
the plot number (often called a "Khasra"), the area, and even the type
of soil. It’s the official report card for your property, packed with unique
local terms. So, if you're ever dealing with property, knowing the local
lingo is crucial.
