Your 4G phone wasn't originally designed to make calls. LTE networks are for data only,
so engineers needed a clever workaround for voice. They revived a complex system called the
IP Multimedia Subsystem, or IMS, which was initially a flop. This solution is
now known as Voice over LTE, or VoLTE. When you make a call,
your phone isn't using an old-school phone line. It's sending a request to the IMS,
which then creates a special, high-priority data stream just for your voice.
This VIP lane ensures your call is crystal clear, separate from your other internet traffic.
