The part of your tooth you can see is actually changing all the time. You have two crowns:
the anatomical crown, which is the part covered in enamel and stays the same size forever.
Then there's the clinical crown, which is just the part visible above your gums.
As your gums recede with age or disease, your clinical crown gets bigger, exposing more of
the tooth and even the root. This is where it gets tricky, because exposed
roots have little dips called concavities that regular floss can miss. Your smile isn't
static; it's constantly changing right down to the gumline.
