Unseen Threats in the Shadows

A couple weeks ago, I started getting these small folded pieces of notebook paper in my locker.

Nothing dramatic at first. Just dumb stuff like: “Nice shoes today.”

or “You should wear your hair up more.” I thought it was just someone being

weirdly friendly. Or a crush. Whatever. But then the notes got… personal.

One day it said: “You didn’t sleep much last night. You okay?” Which is something

you can’t just see by looking. I had been awake until 3 a.m. crying about something

I haven’t told anyone. And then yesterday’s note: “Stop pretending. He’s not over her.”

Which hit way too specific, because I haven’t told a single person that I’m scared
