How do we weigh the Earth? It all begins with the universal gravitational constant,
'G', key to understanding our planet's mass. Newton's law states every mass attracts.
But for everyday objects, this force is incredibly tiny, almost imperceptible to
us! Your weight is Earth's gravitational pull. This force is determined by your
mass, Earth's mass (m_E), and its radius (r_E). By equating these
force expressions, we solve for Earth's mass. The equation simplifies to 'g' times
radius squared, divided by 'G'. Using the precise values for G, Earth's surface gravity,
and its radius, we calculate Earth's immense mass: an astonishing 5.98 x 10^24 kilograms!
