Usership: Freedom Beyond Ownership

True freedom has absolutely nothing to do with owning property, despite everything

you have been told since kindergarten. We have been conditioned to believe that individual liberty

is impossible without private property rights, but that is a narrative designed to keep

us trapped in a binary way of thinking. We are always told to look at the scary alternatives like

communism or fascism, systems where the government or a ruling elite owns everything and controls

your life. The debate is always framed as a choice between two poles. Either you own it,

or the state owns it. We argue about corporate monopolies versus public-private partnerships,

but the underlying assumption never changes. Someone always has to be the owner.
