Ventilator Override in the ICU

I switched the ventilator settings on my own patient without telling the attending because I knew he

was wrong. Everyone in the ICU had been whispering about Dr. Chen for weeks.

His judgment was slipping. Nurses were documenting everything. But when he ordered

treatment that would have killed my patient, I had seconds to decide. I changed it.

Saved her life. Then I found out his ex-wife, our head nurse, had been feeding

him wrong information on purpose. She wanted him fired. I became her pawn. Now he's under investigation

and she knows I'm the witness who could destroy him. Do I tell the truth and admit I went

against orders, or do I let an innocent doctor's career burn?
