Vikings basically had credit cards made of pure gold. A guy named Ronald, who's been metal
detecting for 50 years, just found a piece of one on the Isle of Man.
It’s a fragment of a 1,000-year-old Viking arm-ring, intricately plaited from eight gold
strands. This was serious bling, a major status symbol to show off wealth.
But it wasn't just for looks. It was also practical. When a Viking needed to buy something,
they’d literally chop a piece off the arm-ring and use it as payment. Archaeologists can
see two distinct cut marks on this specific piece, which was found folded in half.
