Waking Up After the Unthinkable

I’m a 42-year-old man. I’ve always considered myself healthy. I exercise regularly,

I don’t smoke, I don’t have heart problems, and I’ve never been seriously sick.

That’s why what happened to me still feels unreal. December 14th was one of those perfect,

ordinary Sundays. Nothing special. Nothing stressful. Just calm. I waited for my

wife to come home from work — she’s a doctor. When she arrived, we went grocery

shopping together. We joked, laughed, talked about random things,

about plans, about life. Later that evening, we ordered takeout. We sat on the couch,

watched Netflix, relaxed. No warning signs. No pain. No strange feelings.
