Walking on Water

It was deep into the night. The disciples were on the lake, pushing against

the wind… tired… worn out… when suddenly, something appears on the water. A shape… a figure…

moving closer… walking. On. Water. Their hearts jump.

“It’s a ghost!” But then a familiar voice rises above the wind: “Take courage.

It’s Me. Don’t be afraid.” It’s Jesus. Peter calls out, “Lord,

if it’s really You, tell me to come.” Jesus answers with one word: “Come.”

Peter steps out. One foot… then the other… and for a moment — he actually walks

on water. Then fear grabs him, and he starts to sink.
