Watching Eyes

"The Doll's Eyes" The antique doll arrived in a plain box, no sender.

Its eyes were glass, unblinking, following her around the room. At first,

she laughed it off—an optical illusion. But then the eyes changed color, matching hers.

One night, she woke to find the doll sitting on her chest, staring.

She threw it in the trash. The next morning, it was back on her shelf.

Clean, eyes wide. She burned it, watched the flames consume it.

But in the ashes, two glass eyes remained. Now they watch her from every corner, embedded in the

walls. Waiting.
