We Are the World

My dear people of this world, I do not stand before you as a politician.

I do not speak to you as a soldier. I am not the voice of

a party. I speak as a human being, as one of

you. We live in an age in which we could have everything,

and yet we stand there, trembling, at the edge of an abyss.

We hold the world in our hands, and we are breaking it.

We have the knowledge to end hunger, and yet we let children starve

in tents made of plastic, in front of warehouses full of food.
