What the fuck is a fucking balance sheet?? Every accounting student asks this

at least once a day. Sometimes twice. Sometimes while crying.

A balance sheet is basically a financial selfie of a company — taken at ONE moment in time.

Not the past, not the future, just right now. It answers three simple questions:

What do you own? (Assets) What do you owe? (Liabilities) And what’s left

for you after that mess? (Equity) And it all comes down to one sacred

rule: Assets = Liabilities + Equity. That’s why it’s called a BALANCE

sheet. If it doesn’t balance, you didn’t discover a new accounting theory — you just
