FACT STORY: “The Day the Internet Almost Disappeared” Hook (0–3 sec): “In 2016,
the internet almost stopped… because of cameras.” Story (3–20 sec): Most websites you
use—Netflix, Twitter, Amazon, Reddit—depend on one company you’ve
probably never heard of. It’s called Dyn. Hackers took control of thousands of
smart devices like security cameras and Wi-Fi routers. They forced them to send millions
of requests at the same time. Result (20–30 sec): The internet got overloaded.
Major websites went offline worldwide. Ending (30–35 sec): “The internet didn’t break because of
hackers… It broke because smart devices weren’t smart enough.”
