When the World Forgot Its Name

We learned the sound of sirens. Before we learned to pray. The sky was

full of promises. We never got to keep that way. Fathers left in

silence. Mothers learned to wait. Children counting shadows. On a wall

that wouldn't stay. They told us it was necessary, they told us it was right.

But nobody explained to us why daylight felt like night. When the world

forgot its name and every truth wore a uniform. We buried hope beneath the flames

and called destruction normal. No one wins when hatred lives. No flag can

cover pain. History will write the dates but not the names.
