grave. In the winter of 1620, the first Pilgrims buried their dead
on the hill above Plymouth Harbor… and some say they never left. Visitors hear footsteps
pacing between centuries-old stones. Others see a Victorian couple walking arm-in-arm… their bodies fading
away below the knees before vanishing into the fog. On this same hill lies a mass grave
— seventy sailors from the ship General Arnold, frozen to death in a blizzard of
1778. Locals say their captain still roams the monument, calling for men
who never came home. And under the “tree with fingers” — roots clawing through stone —
