Ice cubes float in your drink but wait, isn't solid supposed to be heavier
than liquid? Water is weird in the best way. When it freezes,
it breaks the usual rules of density. In liquid water, molecules move freely
and stay close together. But as it freezes, they lock into
a shape that takes up more space. More space means less density so
the ice becomes lighter than the liquid it came from. This small trick
of physics keeps lakes from freezing solid. Ice forms on top,
acting like a blanket and protecting life below. So next time your ice floats
