Why Wombats Poop Cubes

Wombats are the only animal on Earth that poops in perfect cubes. Scientists discovered

their intestines have stretchy and stiff sections that mold their waste into six sided blocks.

Why cubes though? It's territorial genius. When wombats mark their territory

on rocks and logs, cube shaped poop won't roll away like regular droppings would.

This means their scent markers stay exactly where they place them, warning other wombats

to stay out. Nature literally designed a poop that defies physics just so wombats

could claim their space more effectively.
