Why You Can’t Bike Hoover Dam

Warning: riding a bike down Hoover Dam is actually impossible and incredibly illegal.

The dam face is a sheer 726-foot concrete wall, not a rideable surface. Security would stop

you immediately at the top. But let's imagine you somehow did it.

You'd be facing a nearly vertical drop at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour within seconds.

The concrete surface has expansion joints every few feet that would launch you airborne.

Your bike would disintegrate, your body would tumble uncontrollably, and the impact at

the bottom would be catastrophic. The dam exists to hold back Lake Mead, not serve as an

extreme sports venue.
