Working for a Ghost

The ghost in the machine is stealing twenty percent of your life before you even touch the

paper. You grind for forty hours, trading your sleep and your Sundays,

only to see a huge chunk of that soul sold off to the system. It feels like a

tax on your actual breath. You look at that pay stub and realize you aren't just

paying for cracked roads, you are paying with hours you will never get back.

I did the math on the back of the bill, and the result is terrifying.
