A Moment of Reckoning

They told us if we took one round from the village, we level it. My sergeant got

shot, so we were pissed. I was sweeping a hut, ready to fire through

the walls, when a man ran out screaming, "Don't shoot!" I almost killed

him. Inside, the hut was filled with women and children huddled together.

My knees got weak and I just dropped down and cried. I almost wiped them all off the planet.

We were taught to shoot first, to kill first, in case somebody was there.

That was just the process.
