It is called the Callipyge gene, and while it makes the animal look huge,
the meat ends up dry and tough because the muscles never relax after slaughter. But the weirdness
continues in the dairy aisle. If a cow eats too many forget-me-nots or alfalfa,
their milk can actually turn blue. Even pigs have a literal drama queen gene that makes
their meat pale and watery if they get stressed. Animal science is basically just trying
to stop your food from tasting like panic.
