Asian Americans have the highest education and income levels in the U.S., but it doesn't translate
to political power. Here's the puzzle: high socioeconomic status usually predicts high voting rates.
But for Asian Americans, that's not the case. Their voting rates are surprisingly similar to Latinos,
despite having vastly different education levels. So what's going on?
A huge factor is immigration. As the most immigrant-heavy population, many are not yet
citizens or are still navigating language barriers and a new political system.
Plus, the community is incredibly diverse—Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese,
and Korean voters all have different backgrounds and priorities. It’s a story of
