Awake During Surgery: A Silent Nightmare

I woke up during my own surgery. Eyes open. Paralyzed. Could feel everything.

The surgeon was arguing with the anesthesiologist about whose fault it was.

I heard every word. Every cut. They had no idea I was awake. Then the surgeon

said something that made my blood run cold. He whispered he'd done this before.

Covered it up. My heart monitor started racing. They panicked. Pumped me full of

drugs. I went under again. When I woke up in recovery, they acted like

nothing happened. Smiled. Said everything went perfectly. But I remembered

everything. I reported him. Turns out six other patients had the same story.
