Bacteria: Microscopic Warzone

Bacteria are the ultimate survival machines and they are literally everywhere. These tiny prokaryotes

don't even need a nucleus to ruin your entire week. They are actually trading DNA like

Pokémon cards to become superbugs that resist our medicine. In the lab,

we play detective by dyeing them purple or pink with a Gram stain and feeding them actual sheep

blood just to see if they eat it. We even measure a literal zone of death on a petri

dish to see which antibiotics work. It is a microscopic warzone, and the bacteria

are fighting back harder than ever.
