Justice isn't just blind, she's armed and ready to enforce the rules.
That woman with the blindfold holding a sword and scales represents the entire legal system,
and here's what most people don't realize. Belgium has three completely separate
powers that keep each other in check: the legislative makes the laws, the executive enforces
them, and the judicial interprets them. But here's the wild part,
Belgium went from being one unified country to a federal state with communities and regions,
each with their own parliaments and governments. This means you're living under European
law, federal law, regional law, and local law all at the same time.
