Bluebell Breakers

Sea of bluebells in the morning wood. Distant waves crashing where the coastline

stood. We slip off the road where the hedges part. Follow muddy tracks

with a pounding heart. Sunlight pours through the branches then. Paints violet bells

on the forest skin. Each little flower on a drooping stem.

Feels like the woods rolled a rug for us again. Bluebell breakers rolling

in my chest. Flowers in the forest, waves out west. Bluebell breakers rising

like the tide. Every sway of purple pulls us to the seaside.

We can hear the gulls if we hold our breath. Faint soft calling
