A metal rod once shot through a railway worker's head, and he survived, but his personality
completely changed. The rod destroyed his prefrontal cortex, the part of your brain right behind
your forehead that handles your personality, judgment, and complex planning. It's basically your
brain's CEO. This is the same area that lets you weigh consequences and forms your conscience,
and it's one of the last parts of the brain to fully mature. Other areas have
different jobs, like the motor cortex for movement. If it's damaged on the right,
the left side of your body is paralyzed. Your brain isn't just one thing; it's a team of specialists.
