Carp are one of the smartest fish you can catch and understanding their behavior is the
key to landing them consistently. These fish are bottom feeders with an incredible sense
of taste. They prefer natural baits like corn, boilies, and bread,
but their favorite meal is actually aquatic insects, crustaceans, and plant matter
found on lake and river bottoms. Carp use their barbels, those whisker-like organs near their
mouth, to detect food in murky water. Spawning happens when water temperatures
hit between 64 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit, typically late spring to early summer. During this period,
carp become extremely active in shallow waters with vegetation. They're less interested in feeding during
