Catalysis and the Role of Catalysts

Introduction  Typically a chemical reaction, involves breaking of old

bonds and making of new bonds between reacting molecules that generates new molecules or

product/s.  Some reactions may have great industrial significance but they are either

slow or gives poor yield.  Catalysis is the one such available option that can

solve this problem. Catalyst definition  “Catalysts are the chemical substances

that are added in a small quantity to a chemical reaction who accelerates the

rate of the reaction without taking part in it”.  Catalyst, usually required

in a small quantity because it generally enters into a very weak chemical combination
