Chaos in Early America

The early USA was a total mess and almost didn't make it. George Washington

had to basically invent the government from scratch. His top two advisors, Hamilton and Jefferson,

hated each other so much they created the first political parties over money and power.

Farmers literally started a rebellion over a whiskey tax. Then, we almost went to

war with France over a bribery scandal, and Jefferson accidentally doubled the country's size buying Louisiana

for a bargain. We even fought Britain again in 1812, they burned down the White House,

but somehow we came out of it with more national pride than ever. It was chaos.
