Your body has a secret army that never forgets an enemy. It's a two-part
defense system. First, you have your innate immunity, the general security
team you're born with. They're on patrol 24/7, using skin as a
barrier and sending out "pac-man" cells called macrophages to gobble up any generic invader.
But if a pathogen gets serious, the special forces are activated: your acquired immunity.
This elite team learns the specific identity of the invader. B-cells create custom
antibodies to neutralize them, while T-cells hunt down and destroy your own infected
cells. They create memory cells, so the next time that same germ shows
