Chasing Shadows in the Dark

You were a mystery from the moment we met. Holding your gaze toward the floor.

When I did catch those eyes, like diamonds when wet. It just left

me wanting more. Shy and demure, shrinking from crowds. You were always hard to focus

on. I was never quite sure if I'd be allowed to see if

you were real or already gone. I saw you again through the

pouring rain. Walking across the street. I crossed in hopes I know

now were in vain. Your pace was far too fleet.
