The Bank of America Chicago Marathon just completely shattered expectations by raising over
forty-seven million dollars for charity in a single race. We are not talking about a small bump
in donations here because this year’s participants smashed the previous fundraising record by a staggering
eleven million dollars. It is honestly hard to wrap your head around that kind of generosity when
you realize this money is coming from everyday people who are already putting their bodies
through the absolute ringer just to cross the finish line. To understand why this number is so
huge, you have to look at the individual stories of the people actually running.
