Choosing Sides in Family Conflict

I’m 25, and my older brother’s 28. Here’s the core issue: he and his

ex have a five-year-old together—my nephew—and after everything that’s gone on, my family is basically

split in two. My mom’s always had my brother’s back, no matter what he

does, so I already knew how this was gonna play out. But back up to when

my nephew was just 2. My brother just up and left. Moved out,

stopped sending money, and eventually dropped all contact. It was like he’d

vanished. He wasn’t around. There were no birthday cards, no visits,

not even a text. It landed on his ex to raise their kid completely on her own.
