Christmas 1776: The Turning Point

Christmas 1776. The Continental Army faced total collapse. Freezing,

demoralized, with enlistments expiring, hope was fading fast for the American cause.

After devastating defeats in New York, the army retreated. Numbers dwindled due to desertion and

expiring contracts. Severe shortages plagued them: no food, tattered clothing,

no shoes, and dwindling ammunition. Conditions were brutal. Morale hit rock bottom.

Hunger and freezing winter conditions gnawed at their spirit, pushing them to the brink.

But General Washington, in a desperate gamble to salvage the cause, planned a daring

surprise attack. We must strike now, or all is lost!
