Leaving your cold brew on the counter might kill bacteria faster than putting it in the fridge.
Sounds wild, right? But a new study shows that pathogens like Salmonella
and E. coli actually die off much faster in cold brew left at room temp.
Researchers found these germs can survive for weeks in your coffee. While the natural
acidity helps, the warmer temperature speeds up their demise. A more acidic brew
also knocked them out faster. The scariest part? One super-tough bacteria,
Listeria, was a total tank. It survived for over 30 days, no matter the temperature
or acidity.
