Corporate Spirituality and Quality Management

Welcome to the corporate spirituality chapter. ISO 9001:2000 is basically the “we’re a real company,

we promise” badge. It lists twenty requirements your software process must follow,

from how managers act, to how you review contracts, control design,

track documents, label products, manage tests, fix errors, record quality data,

audit yourselves, train people, and use stats like you’re running a mini science lab.

The idea is: if the process is solid, the product might actually behave. Then we get the

four sacred pillars of Total Quality Management. Kaizen says “never stop improving,”

which in practice means constantly fixing your process because it’s definitely broken.
