Cut Off After Thanksgiving Guilt Trip

I grew up knowing I was never the priority in my family, as my parents devoted nearly all their

attention to my older sister while I was mostly overlooked. She had big birthday parties and constant

support, and when I asked for a sweet sixteen of my own, it quickly turned

into an event centered around her. When it was time for college, my parents told

me they couldn’t help because they were still paying for her education, so I applied for

scholarships, earned grants, and left home just days after graduating. Over the years,

I worked hard, went to counseling, built strong friendships, and slowly created a life I was proud

of, eventually becoming financially stable and sharing some of those moments
