Bad design is forcing millions of people to memorize button locations just to use the internet.
A new study reveals that for color-blind users, your favorite aesthetic interfaces are actually
a nightmare. When apps rely solely on color to show status or distinguish buttons,
it is basically invisible ink for a huge chunk of the population. People are forced
to skip features entirely, crank their contrast settings to the max,
or rely on muscle memory just to navigate a basic menu. The research found that the most effective
strategy is still just asking a friend to confirm what they are seeing. It proves that if
your design needs a translator, it is time to fix it.
