Drafts From a Forgotten Friend

This isn’t scary, just… weird. Last week, I was thinking about my old best friend

from middle school. We stopped talking years ago, no drama, just drifted apart.

I didn’t text anyone about it. Didn’t search it. Didn’t even say it out loud.

That night, my phone sent me a notification: “You might want to reconnect.”

I assumed it was some algorithm thing. But when I tapped it, it opened a draft

text message. Not sent. Not received. A draft. It was addressed

to my old friend. And the message said: “Remember when we sat by the lockers

and said we’d stay friends forever?” That’s the thing. No photos exist of us by the lockers.
