In 1959, nine experienced hikers died on a frozen Russian mountain
under impossible circumstances. Their tent was slashed from the inside. They fled barefoot
into negative forty degree weather. Some had fractured skulls and missing tongues,
yet no external wounds. One victim's clothing contained radioactive traces. Soviet investigators found
strange orange lights in the sky that night. The area was immediately sealed off
for three years. Locals still refuse to go near Dyatlov Pass after dark.
Rescue teams reported an overwhelming sense of dread, like invisible eyes watching from the
treeline. The official cause of death was listed as an unknown compelling force.
